The owner of the Adopt-a-Friend animal shelter in Weston has pleaded no contest to four cruelty to animals charges.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Department charged Charles Riffle after four cats were found at the animal shelter living in unsanitary conditions. Riffle turned himself into the sheriff's department Wednesday afternoon.
The Adopt-a-Friend shelter closed about a month ago and Riffle had arranged to keep his four cats there, but hadn't been caring for them, according to deputies.
Riffle was ordered to pay a fine of 1,868.20 for the charges, plus court costs.
