State Police in West Union Investigating Fatal Crash

West Virginia State Police in West Union are investigating a fatal crash on Route 50 that happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

State Police and Doddridge County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an accident on Route 50 eastbound at the intersection of Long Run Road and determined that Mindy Weaver, 30, of Bridgeport, was traveling west and lost control of her vehicle. Weaver crossed the median and collided with a vehicle driven by David Naill, 43, from Maryland and his passenger, Karen Lemmert, 43 also of Maryland.

Lemmert and Naill sustained injuries and were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown by medical helicopter.  They are listed in critical condition. A juvenile passenger in Weaver's car was also flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Weaver died at the scene as a result of her injuries, according to state police.

The collision caused major delays until the scene was cleared around 6:30 p.m.
