PHILIPPI -

It's an exciting time at Alderson-Brouddus University. The new name is just the first step, but this fall a couple of new programs will be revealed.

Acrobatics and tumbling is one of several new sports scheduled to start in 2013.

A-B is just the 10th school in the nation to offer acrobatics and tumbling and second in the area. Fairmont State also offers the new sport.

A-B officials said A&T is the first new women's sport to be sanctioned by the NCAA in more than 10 years.

"Between the new university status of our school and all these new sports being added, I know a lot of male sports began last year. Now a lot of female sports are starting this year; it's really exciting. With acro and tumbling being such a brand new sport and such in its infancy right now, we're real excited to have A-B adding this program and offer it to athletes," said Head Coach Jacqueline Svadeba.

Other programs starting in the fall are men's and women's golf and swimming, along with wrestling as well.
