Senior citizens who qualify may begin signing up for the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program.

The program benefits the state's farmers and low-income senior citizens.

Participants can sign up at senior centers around the state.

Those who are eligible receive $20 worth of coupons to be used at participating farmers' markets.

Participants must be 60 years old and meet the income requirements per household.

"There is an income guideline that they have to go by depending on the number of people in their house. They will be able to get a little bit of fresh produce that they normally wouldn't have," said Sandra Thomas, of the Marion County Senior Center.

Marion County will begin distributing the coupons July 10.

Contact your local senior center for more information.
