FAIRVIEW -

Independence Day celebrations were held in several cities and towns across West Virginia on Thursday.

Fairview's celebration is themed "Conceived in Liberty" to honor our nation and commemorate the 150th birthday of West Virginia.

"We live in the greatest country in the world," said Keith Bowers, Barrackville Restaurant. "We need to come out and celebrate our independence."

"It's Americas birthday. I feel that its extra special because we remember a lot of the people that helped our country in the past," said Sophia Flower, Barrackville Resident.

Festivities included a 5K Fun Run followed by the grand parade.

Local fire departments, police departments, bands, and more were featured.
