Car enthusiasts from across the region are rolling into downtown Elkins for the Mountaineer State Street Machines Auto Extravaganza.

This annual, weekend-long event kicked off Friday at 5 p.m. with a Cruise In, which organizers said they expect to draw in more than 500 classic cars.

The fun will continue Saturday and Sunday with one of the biggest car shows in the state. Registration for the car show will be at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the show opening at 9 a.m. both days.

The entry fee is $15 which includes a participation plaque and entry into drawings for hundreds of dollars in prizes.

Other events throughout the weekend will include a digital scavenger hunt and classic rock-n-roll music provided by disc jockey Dan Barkley. Concession will be on sale in the city park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the events.
