A Lewis County grand jury has indicted two people in connection to the February 2011 death of a 14-month-old boy.
Julia Mick, 30, was indicted on one count of child neglect resulting in death. Christopher Sheppard, 25, of Hepzibah, was indicted on one count of death of a child by parent, guardian, or custodian or by other person by child abuse, according to court filings. Sheppard was previously charged but Special Prosecutor Michael Parker dismissed that charge in June.
Christopher Sheppard was babysitting the boy and left him unattended in a sink. The child fell out of the sink onto his head and later died, according to a criminal complaint. An autopsy revealed several blunt force traumas to the child's brain, among other injuries.
The pair will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday.
