School Lunch Conference in Morgantown Addresses New Feed to Achieve Act

Posted: Updated:

Food service directors from across the state have wrapped up a two-day conference in Morgantown.

The West Virginia School Lunch Conference addressed the new Feed to Achieve Act that encourages schools to feed students breakfast and lunch daily.

The Department of Education said the state leads the country with new ideas to help feed kids.

"I am very proud of what we've been able to accomplish here in West Virginia. In 2007 we adopted the most progressive standards for nutrition policy, which we pattern after the institute of medicine's recommended standards," said Richard Goff, of the WVDE office of child nutrition.

The Department of Education said other states have praised the Feed to Achieve Act.
