The Upshur County Commission approved submission of three important grant applications.

The community corrections program will receive a $247,000 grant. The funds will be utilized for continued operation of the program in Upshur, Lewis, and Braxton counties.

$30,000 was set aside in grant funding for the continuation of the county's Stop Violence Against Women Team.

"The work they do wouldn't be possible without these grants. So we're extremely appreciatively of the money that we receive from the state for those," said Megan Pomeroy, an Upshur County administrator.

A $10,000 Governor's Community Participation Grant will help Disabled American Veterans Chapter 36 with building repairs.
