On September 7th when Pace University football comes to Alderson Broaddus University history will be made. It will be the first varsity football game at ABU in over 80 years, and it will be played in a brand new stadium.
The school's new multi-purpose facility is nearing completion. Head football coach and athletic director Denny Creehan said the project is on schedule and should be complete before the season begins. Last year the Battlers played a junior-varsity schedule going 9-2 in the inaugural season.
Creehan said the $7-million project is a visual representation of the school's many changes.
"I think it represents a whole total change of philosophy and direction where our University is heading and so forth. It's not just the field but you can look up there and see the new residence halls that are going up as well, so we're doing everything we can to make it as exciting as we can," he said.
