Four people were sent to local hospitals after a driver said he fell asleep at the wheel in Marion County Monday morning.

According to Marion County Sheriff's deputies, the driver of a Geo Metro said he fell asleep at the wheel around 6:30 a.m. on Route 250 near the Katy Market.

The Metro then crossed the center line and struck a Chevy Tahoe, sending both vehicles off of the roadway. The Metro struck a tree. The Tahoe, which was carrying three people, went over an embankment and rolled over.

Deputies said the three people in the Tahoe were transported to United Hospital Center and the driver of the Metro was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital but none of the injuries seemed life-threatening.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department is continuing their investigation.
