Several Randolph County fire departments responded to the scene of a house fire Monday afternoon.

Chief Keith Brown of the Valley Head Fire Department said the fire started around noon at a house on Marple Lane in Valley Head.

Two children said they were playing in an upstairs bedroom when a lamp caught fire, according to Brown, so officials believe the fire was electrical in nature.

Brown said the fire was contained to the top floor, and that everyone inside the home was able to get out safely.

Fire departments from Beverly, Tygart Valley, and Shavers Fork also responded to the fire.

There is no word on the extent of damage to the home.
