Lewis County Sheriff's Department Responds to Rt. 19 Fatal Crash

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department responded to a fatal accident on Rt. 19 north, just south of Weston around 8:22 a.m. Monday.

Deputy G.P. Hoskins said Sarah Elizabeth James, 27, of Upshur County, was driving a 1991 Acura Integra LS near the intersection of Sammy Run Road. She drove right off the roadway edge, came back on the road, crossing the north and southbound lanes. The vehicle then ran off the southbound roadway edge, striking the embankment head on, according to the sheriff's department.

James died while en route to be transported by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital, said the sheriff's department.

Lewis County EMS, Weston Fire Department, and the Walkersville Fire Department also responded to the scene.
