The Parsons Police Department has arrested a man accused of robbing a pharmacy at gunpoint.
Chief Jonathan Jones said John Morton, 28 of Parsons, walked into the Rite Aid on Main Street between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, held a pistol to the pharmacist and demanded drugs.
Jones said Morton then left on foot with about 300 generic Percocet pills. The pharmacist wasn't hurt.
Law enforcement agencies from Tucker and Randolph counties searched the area for hours before locating Morton on Poplar Street, one block away from where the robbery occurred.
Police arrested Morton at around 9 p.m. and recovered the weapon and most of the drugs. Jones said Morton cooperated with the authorities.
Morton faces a charge of armed robbery. He is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
The Tucker County Sheriff's Department, the Federal Forest Service, and state police from Parsons and Elkins all assisted in the arrest.
