The remains of a World War II veteran were escorted from Pittsburgh International Airport to Mannington Thursday.

Sergeant Jerome Kiger was shot down in Germany in 1944.

His remains were found 69 years later and were brought back to Marion County Thursday.

The Patriot Guard, emergency personnel and law enforcement led Sergeant Kiger home.

A military funeral is planned in Mannington on Sunday.
