The 22nd House of Delegates district is down a representative, but the Lincoln County Democratic Committee will meet to nominate a new member.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The committee will nominate three individuals. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will then appoint one of those three people to fill the seat vacated by former Delegate Josh Stowers. Stowers stepped down earlier this month to take a position with the West Virginia Treasurer's Office.

The committee also will meet in special session July 23 to review the process for selecting candidates. No action will be taken — the meeting is solely to answer questions and address possible issues with the nominations.

Any registered Democrat living in the 22nd district is eligible to be appointed to the position. Interested parties, possible candidates and members of the public are invited to attend the meeting.
