Skylar Neese Memorial Service and Dinner Held in Westover

The community gathered in Westover with the Neese family on Friday for a memorial service and dinner, after Mary and Dave Neese were finally able to lay their daughter to rest.

The Memorial Service was held at Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church followed by a dinner at the Westover VFW.

More than 100 people showed up for the events.

"As you can see by the amount of people who are here Skylar was truly loved," said Dave Neese. "She really was, and she still is."

Daleen Berry and Geoffrey Fuller came to the service and dinner. They are in the process of writing a book about Skylar Neese's life and her murder.

"Not only how this affected this community but try to get some answers for the community," said Berry. "Because people are still, they're still pretty much in pain over this and that's going to take some time to ease. We want to give them some red flags. People, parents especially, some red flags to look for to help their children."

The dinner included food donated by several local restaurants.

Dave Neese said this is a step towards closure but they are not at the end of the story.

"We still have two very evil children out there that need to be dealt with. One of them needs sentenced and one of them needs to become an adult," said Dave Neese. "So, that's part of the closure also. Even after that's done there won't be complete closure. But every day gets a little easier."

The name of the second teen involved in the killing of Skylar Neese has still not been released.
