City of Morgantown Holds 'Kid's Day'

MORGANTOWN -

Thousands of people flooded the streets for Morgantown's Kid's Day on Saturday, but it was cut a little bit short because of the weather.

"I just wish that Mother Nature would have worked out with us better and things would have gone smoother," said John Fitch, a parent that came out for the day. "Because it is really neat to see people come together and children to have the opportunity."

Local businesses, departments from WVU and non profit organizations attended the event.

Thunder boomed, and storm clouds threatened. What began as a bustling street, within minutes, was almost completely cleared.

Some people stuck around and braved the rain.  They said the weather didn't hinder their fun.

"Definitely not the storm, just all the things that were here today," said Tyler Jeffries, a participant in the day's activities

"Spending time with the kids, having fun, letting them enjoy some activities they put out here for them," said Fitch. "Just spending some family fun out here in Morgantown."

Kids could get free food, have their face painted, and much more.

"I don't know if there was one thing I'd say that was best," Fitch said. "There was all kinds of events for the kids and things for them to do. From face painting to informational things. It was just really a good time."

Some booths did remain open but most packed up and didn't return because of the threatening storm.
