U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley has sentenced former head shop owner Jeffrey L. Paglia on charges related to operating north central West Virginia's largest purveyor of bath salts and synthetic drugs.
Paglia will spend slightly more than seven years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Paglia is also ordered to forfeit hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and other assets.
Federal and local law enforcement agencies raided the Hot Stuff Cool Things stores in Clarksburg and Buckhannon in April 2012 after receiving numerous tips from the public.
The U.S. Marshals Service is investigating the other Hot Stuff Cool Things defendant, John Skruck, after he failed to appear in court for his trial in May. Skruck is described as a white male with green eyes, brown hair, standing five-feet-nine-inches and weighing about 200 lbs. If you have information regarding Skruck's whereabouts, contact the U.S. Marshals at 304-623-0486.
