Federal Grand Jury Indicts Bridgeport Pain Doctor

Posted: Updated:

A federal grand jury in Martinsburg has indicted Dr. Edita Milan, 74, of Fairmont, on a charge of conspiracy to distribute schedule II and III controlled substances.

Authorities have accused Milan of supplying large quantities of painkillers to her patients without a legitimate medical purpose.

The indictment alleges Milan conspired with others in wrongdoing from December 2011 to June 27 to distribute oxycodone, morphine, hydrocodone, and buprenorphine.

The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force had been investigating Milan and her practice for several months when in June, 2013, one of Milan's neighbors, as well as a patient of Milan, was found dead in his home in Fairmont.
