PRESTON COUNTY -

The West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office has awarded more than $520,000 in development grants to 19 restoration and rehabilitation projects.

All of the grant recipients are listed as historic sites in the National Register of Historic Places.

Arthurdale Heritage Incorporated is one of the projects receiving a small portion of that money. It will receive $1,100 to restore and replace windows at the Arthurdale Forge.

Other grants went to Davis and Elkins College, the Randolph County Housing Authority, and Delaina Kucish of Marion County.

An outside review panel appointed by the State Historic Preservation Office developed recommendations for the Archives and History Commission. It made the final grant determinations.

Grants are funded by the appropriation of funds from the West Virginia Legislature.
