Kiplinger's Personal Finance has ranked Morgantown as one of America's ten best places to live.

The September 2013 issue placed Morgantown as seventh among its "10 Great Places to Live" for job and income growth, healthcare, proximity to major cities, and cultural and outdoor activities.

The opening line of the Morgantown entry in the report is: "Call it the city bad times forgot," according to a news release from WVU.

Kiplinger, which is a publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice that's based in Washington, D.C., commented on Morgantown's 4.2 percent unemployment rate, which is much lower than the national average. It also pointed to University and the healthcare system, as well as Mylan Pharmaceuticals, "as responsible for job and income growth," according to the news release.

Other cities named in Kiplinger's issues include were; Anchorage, Alaska; Santa Fe, N.M.; Ithaca, N.Y.; Burlington, Vt.; Dubuque, Iowa; Bryan-College Station, Texas; Little Rock, Ark. Santa Fe, N.M.; Columbia, S.C.; and Billings, Mont.

Morgantown has also been included in other rankings, including "10 Best College Towns in America" by Business Insider; has been named one of the "9 Best College Football Towns" by ABC News; was No. 7 in CNNMoney.com's top small places to launch a small business; and was ranked seventh best place for business and careers by Forbes.
