FAIRMONT -

The Marion County Humane Society held a pet adoption and donation event at the Dairy Cream Corner in Fairmont on Saturday afternoon.

People visiting the event were encouraged to come out and see the different dogs and cats that are available for adoption. They could also bring any monetary, food or product donations for the no kill shelter to use.

"We've got a great event going on. We're trying to raise cash donations, food donations for our no kill shelter," said Chris Mackey, a volunteer at the Marion County Humane Society. "We've got lots of animals up for adoption, lots of adult cats and dogs, the shelter is full. So please come out and adopt some animals."

The shelter rotated bringing out the more than 40 dogs that are up for adoption throughout the day.

The shelter also has more than 40 cats available for adoption. Kittens are $20 for adoption, cats cost $30, and dogs usually cost about $120 to adopt.

If you'd like to know more, adopt an animal from the shelter, or donate to the Marion County Humane Society visit their website at www.mchswv.com or call the number at (304) 366-5391‎.
