West Virginia State Police have charged two Monongalia County residents with child abuse resulting in injury for an incident that happened in March.

Police said Katti Turner, 25, called 911 because her child was unresponsive.

Doctors at the hospital labeled the child's injuries "non-accidental trauma."

The police said witnesses told them they saw and heard Joshua Vanpelt, 23, verbally and physically abuse the child while Turner was present.
