ELKINS -

The City of Elkins is handling complaints about cloudy and discolored water.

Elkins Operational Manager Bob Pingley said the city is about two to three months behind in its semi-annual water line flushing.

Pingley said it's trying to get back on schedule and flushing is taking place in the evenings this week to minimize disruptions.

"When we didn't get to it on a timely basis and having breaks in the summertime anytime you have pretty good size leak in the system it shocks the system, it disturbs it and that's major cause of the cloudy water," Pingley said.

Pingley said the city tries to flush the water lines every six months.
