ELKINS -

A documentary about four World War Two veterans getting a trip of a lifetime was screened Tuesday in Elkins by a group of veterans and their families.

"Honor Flight One Last Mission" follows veterans on a trip to see the World War II Memorial in Washington.

Veterans came from area nursing homes to the special screening.

Organizers and veterans said the film honors vets and teaches folks about the honor flight program.

"Because we're very interested in our student veterans and the veterans within our community we felt this would be an excellent opportunity to work with the community, said Debbie Larkin, Davis and Elkins College Veterans Liaison Officer.

David DeNitto, a World War II veteran took the Honor Flight last year from Florida. He said the memorial is a sight to see.

"The whole thing is very impressive, and you got there and you look these places, and it makes you think a lot and brings back some sad memories." said DeNitto.

Donations support the local "We Honor Veterans" and "Honor Flight" programs. The screening was organized by Mountain Hospice, Davis and Elkins College, and VFW in Elkins.
