Students and employees at Fairmont State University said renovating the Turley Student Services Center has been a long time coming and now that the time has finally come, the university has invited the community to celebrate.

FSU held a dedication ceremony Thursday and gave folks a chance to tour the new facility.

The building will have several uses.

"This is everything that a student might need help with. Financial aid, academic advising, registrar, veterans services, honors program, international student services, admissions. All of those services under one roof," said Dr. Maria Rose, of FSU.

"For such a small school, this is a great, great asset to the school. It makes it a little more intriguing for students to want to come here," said Aeriall Daniel, FSU senior.

It was originally called the Student Center and was built in 1959. It was renamed for George H. Turley in 1980. Turley served for 30 years as an English and speech faculty member at FSU, as well as the Dean of Men.

The first floor of the building houses the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, the second floor features the Career Development Center, and the third houses the Enrollment Services, among other services.

If you missed it on Thursday, the Turley Student Center will hold an open house from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
