TERRA ALTA -

The new addition to Terra Alta-East Preston Primary School won't be finished in time for the first day back to class.

This summer's months were not only for students to take a break from their studies, but parents also lost touch with the school system.

Rumors were flying about what would happen to students from Terra Alta-East Preston, since the new school addition would not be completed until October.

Principal Russel Cecala held a meeting Thursday evening to answer any questions.

One of the parents worried that their child would end up going to another school in the county.

"My main concern is that, I work at a different school and I wanted to know where my children were going to be, and when they were getting home, and where they were taking classes at," said Judy Wiles, a parent.

Principal Cecala wanted to let people know that was not the case.

"We're temporarily going to put six classes in the gym, and also we're going to split up the art room into classrooms, and also split a computer lab into two separate classrooms. So that we can house all 415 students safely, and in one building.," Cecala said.

Students will also be going to school a little longer this year.

The school will open Wednesday, August 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for any last minute changes. The first day for students will run on a two hour delay Thursday, August 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. And first day for kindergarten and Pre-K will be Monday, August 26 and will run on normal hours.

For more information, or to check bus schedules and any delays, visit the school's website.
