Friends and family said their final goodbyes to Fred and Freddie Swiger Friday at a funeral service in Clarksburg.

The Swigers were shot and killed last Friday.

The father and son delivered newspapers together for more than 30 years for the Exponent Telegram. They were delivering papers together when they were killed.

"Fred and Freddie, once you met them, they were people you never forgot," said a former coworker of the pair.

At the service Reverend James Dittmar said that something needs to be done after the shooting on Locust Avenue in Clarksburg, saying that "we shouldn't be here today."

"Someone here may have struggled with drugs or you are now, for Fred and Freddie, I'm asking you to get help," he said, "we can't turn a blind eye to the problem; you have to reach out and get them help."

On Thursday evening, family, friends and neighbors gathered in front of the courthouse in Clarksburg to pull the community together and to remember the Swigers. A Facebook group called "Vigil For Clarksburg" brought more than a dozen people out in support.

Clarksburg City Council met during the vigil. Councilman Patsy Trecost asked council to consider approving an optional five hours of overtime for police officers.
