Clarksburg City Council met Thursday night to discuss ‘The Robinson Grand Theater', also known as the ‘Rose Garden Theater', that the city plans to acquire.

On Friday, the Harrison County Senior Center was hopping to a beat. The center hosted a Zumbathon to raise money for new gym equipment.

Nearly 50 people came out in support of the Senior Center. The suggested donation for the Zumbathon class was $10. There were local fitness instructors on hand to help guide those who came out to the senior center to support their cause.

The senior center hoped to raise $1,000 Friday night to purchase new weights, stability balls and mats.

Kim Bell said it's important to have the community involved in the center.

"It is so important. This center is so important to our community and just getting people to come out and have fun together is really important for not only our center but for the community," said activities director, Kim Bell.

Additional fundraising events such as bingo and other fundraiser's are in the works to support the senior center.

No dates have been set for those events yet.

The senior center provides a wide variety of services. Some of the activities include ceramics, dancing, exercise and fitness.

Some of the services available for seniors at the center are health, in-home, health insurance, nutrition and transportation.
