Benefit Held for Doddridge Gas Well Explosion Worker

PRICETOWN -

Charlie Arbogast is one of the well workers injured in the gas well explosion in Doddridge County that happened almost a month ago. On Sunday members of the Pricetown Fire Department held a benefit in his honor.

Baked steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans might not seem like much, but for the family of Charlie "Tom" Arbogast it could mean some help financially.

"It would help with anything that we would need for his welfare, and to pay bills. Because we need to pay bills," explained Diana Arbogast, Arbogast's wife.

Arbogast is a member of the Pricetown Fire Department, and his fellow members said he is like a brother to them.

"He's been in the fire department for years, anything we ever had down here he was here to help us. He's just like family to all the members down here," said Kevin Smith, the Assistant Chief of the Pricetown Fire Department.

Arbogast's family said they aren't surprised the members are helping them out, because that's just what they do.

"They do a lot of community dinners for anybody who is in need. They'll donate everything, and they try their best to help anybody they know in need, it doesn't matter where you are in Lewis County," explained Diana Arbogast.

"This fire department is like every other fire department, they're a brotherhood and they stand together," said Karen Hardman, Charlie Arbogast's sister.

Arbogast's son, Chase Arbogast, said he can't wait for his dad to come home, and he only had one way to describe his father.

"He's just the best person I've ever known, and I love him so much," Arbogast said.

Diana Arbogast said her husband has been moved from Pittsburgh to Morgantown, and things are getting better for him.
