The trial of a Randolph County man charged with sexual abuse started and ended Thursday.
Edward Slaubaugh, 64, faced one count each of first degree sexual assault, first degree sexual abuse, and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.
A jury took 40 minutes to deliberate to find Slaubaugh not guilty of the charges.
Slaubaugh's defense attorney turned down a plea offer to one of the charges Thursday morning.
His defense team argued that there was no physical evidence due to the fact that the incident wasn't reported until a week later.
Prosecutors called several witnesses to the stand including the victim. She was identified by the initials A.L., and is now 6 years old.
Slaubaugh did not take the stand.
