Posted: Updated:

The West Virginia Beta Sigma Phi Convention will be held on the campus of Fairmont State University August 9 through August 11.

More than 100 members of Beta Sigma Phi will be coming from all over the state to attend the three day event. Members from various cities, including Fairmont, Parkersburg, Martinsburg, Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown, will be attending the three-day event.

The sorority is an international women's social, cultural, and service organization for women to have fun and meet new friends. The sorority, which was founded in 1931, has chapters located in every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada. The Greek letters of the sorority's name represents life, learning and friendship, which is also the organization's motto.

The convention also gives the hosts a chance to showcase the county.

"We have arranged for those who wish to go, a tour of Prickett's Fort State Park or Heston Farms Winery. We have contracted with the Marion County Transit Authority and we are providing shuttle service. We are taking them on tours of two of our tourist attractions," said Marianne Moran, co-chairman.

The events will kick off Friday at 4 p.m. at Colebank Hall on Fairmont State University's campus.
