    Duke Energy has committed to contribute $500 million to a major solar power expansion in North Carolina, the company announced Sept. 15.

Remember the Miners will host its 2nd annual Tribute Golf Classic Aug. 12 at Glade Springs Resort.

Presented by Little General Stores, the event will help the Remember the Miners scholars program, which awards financial aid to miners, miners' dependants and students pursuing higher education in the mining industry, the news release states.

The event starts with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. A scholars and supporters appreciation reception will take place from 4-6 p.m.

Remember the Miners is a public awareness campaign honoring miners and the mining industry.
