Original Story

The Bridgeport United Methodist Church is preparing for its annual rummage sale.

This "Whale of a Sale" has been held for over 40 years.

Volunteers have been working since the beginning of June to get the sale ready.

Almost anything can be found at the rummage sale for a bargain.

Some items include full dish sets, name brand purses, clothes, and tons of toys.

Before the sale even starts, items go to charity.

"We go through everything that comes in, and some things we can't use we donate back to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Shepherds Corner, and the Mission. It could be bedding, clothing, and household items. They're all items that can be re-purposed and reused by families," said Sally Altman, co-chair of the Whale of a Sale.

All of the proceeds go to local charities including the Duff Street Food Pantry, Health Access, Hope, Inc., and Mountaineer Young Life.

The sale starts Friday, August 16 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The sale continues both Saturday, August 17, and Monday, August 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It wraps up on Tuesday which is "super bag day." Shoppers can fill up a brown paper grocery bag for just $2.
