A Fairmont man is dead after an accidental drowning in Greenbrier County.

It happened in the Cold Knob area just before 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Greenbrier Sheriff's Department said Clifford Jay Stull, 52, was swimming in Snag Pond with friends when they lost sight of him.

First responders discovered Stull's body in the pond.

Chief Deputy Bruce Sloan said it is unknown if Stull had any medical conditions that could have caused him to drown.

The drowning is still under investigation.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Quinwood EMS and Fire, Alderson Fire and EMS, and Williamsburg Fire and EMS also responded to the call.
