It'll soon be back-to-school for local college and university students. New students will spend the first few days learning their way around.

West Virginia Wesleyan College is gearing up for another semester. The college has a new look, and it's welcoming the largest freshman class in more than 10 years.

"Students coming in from over 26 different states, over 10 different countries it's really taking all the work from admissions teams, faculty and staff, students and trustees working together to do that," said John Waltz, director of admissions.

In addition to increasing numbers, the incoming class will include approximately 470 freshmen and more than 500 total new undergraduate students. Wesleyan has also gone through a period of recent changes. From campus facilities construction and improvements to a branding and imaging change.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Bernie Valento said the college continues to be recognized for its high quality and affordably.

"We've been able to prepare for the students put also plan for next year. We want to continue to build, grow and develop and get better at what we do, so a lot of the last two months, we were really focused on continuing to improve and making things better," Valento said.

College officials said students attending Wesleyan will find their voices.

"While students are coming here and having a good experience. That's the very best recruiter for the college, they're going back to their high schools and sharing those experiences and how satisfied at being here. That's what we wanted to reflect in the new marketing message, about students finding their voice at West Virginia Wesleyan," Waltz said.

Orientation weekend starts Saturday, classes at Wesleyan begin on Monday.
