The Lewis County Sheriff's Department made seven more drug arrests Thursday.
Sheriff Adam Gissy said Cassie Moats, Nathaniel Burkhammer, Todd Turner, Raymond Baugh, Randall Metz, and James Sprouse were all arrested and charged with two counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
The sheriff's department also arrested Tiara Queen on two charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and two charges of delivery of an imitation of a controlled substance.
Sheriff Gissy said the arrests were largely for the sale of prescription drugs like hydrocodone, morphine, Percocet and Suboxone, and that more arrests could be pending on other drug charges.
Many of the arrests were made after the department made controlled buys of the drugs.
Gissy said while methamphetamines are a major problem in the county, prescription drugs are not far behind; he said they're one of the top three drugs abused in Lewis County.
Gissy also added that prescription drug use is just as dangerous, and that, just like other substances, the sheriff's department will not tolerate any abuse in Lewis County.
