Update

The North Central West Virginia Airport recently announced plans to partner with Allegiant Airlines to offer non-stop flights to and from the Orlando area.

The airline was offering a promotional roundtrip fare of just $99.

The airport said the airline sold a lot of tickets in the first few days of the promotion.

That promotional price ended Tuesday.

Original story

Officials with the North Central West Virginia Airport and Allegiant Air have announced new, non-stop air service from the airport in Bridgeport to Orlando. The flights will begin on Nov. 14 with service to the Orlando-Sanford International Airport and will be offered twice a week.

An introductory $99 round-trip fare is being offered. Flights at that rate are available through April 29, 2014, but must be booked by Aug. 27.  Flights can be booked online or by phone at 702-505-8888.  Flight schedules are also available on Allegiant's website

"We are extremely excited to partner with Allegiant to provide North Central West Virginia residents with an opportunity to save when they bundle their travel packages to our number-one travel destination, sunny Orlando, Florida," said Rick Rock, airport director at North Central West Virginia Airport. "For several years, we have aggressively pursued travel opportunities for the citizens of North Central West Virginia, and our partnership with Allegiant is the start of a new beginning," Rock said.

Allegiant said its "sole focus is on low-cost, nonstop leisure travel." The airline partners with hotels, rental car companies and theme parks in the Orlando area, so travelers can book their entire vacation through the airline.

"We are pleased to bring affordable and convenient travel options to the residents of Clarksburg," said Andrew Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. "We are confident the North Central West Virginia community will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to Orlando and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together through us," Levy said.

With Tuesday's announcement, Allegiant now serves 99 cities.
