MONONGALIA COUNTY -

The second annual West Virginia Popular Culture Convention is being held in Morgantown from Aug. 24-25. The convention is usually held in October, but changed to avoid football season so more people could attend.

More than 100 vendors came out this year and the amount of people that attended the convention almost doubled Saturday alone.

The convention has everything from comic book artists, people in costumes, and cars made famous by movies and TV shows.

"This is where we do all things guilty. We're trying to present the best things that are geeky in the area. Including, our local businesses as well as our local groups," said Jon Hayes, founder of the West Virginia Popular Culture Convention.  From magic and war hammer gaming, to video gaming, to comics from people all over the country."

Morgantown High School Art Club, the American Heart Association and other non-profits were given free booths to spread the word about their missions.

MHS Art Club members were able to receive feed back for their work from professional comic artists.

The Pop Con Convention runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday night and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mylan Park.
