SABRATON -

Habitat for Humanity held its annual 'Sprint, Splash and Spin Triathlon' on Saturday.

The two-day program started with kids competing in a much smaller version of the triathlon race on Friday. Hundreds of participants run a 5K, bike 10 miles around the areas of Morgantown, Sabraton, and Star City, and swim laps in the Marilla Park pool.

The race started and finished at Marilla Park in Sabraton.

Brianna Robinson of Monongalia County Habitat for Humanity said that they could not do the race without their sponsors and help they receive from the community.

"This race could not be done without our volunteers," said Robinson. "We had over 80 volunteers come out for the two day race. They just help the racers stay safe, and we really appreciate them and all the hard work that BoParc does."

All of the proceeds go to helping Habitat for Humanity provide safe, affordable, housing for local residents in need.

The Monongalia County Habitat for Humanity just broke ground on its 700th house in West Virginia. Volunteers helping plan to finish construction on that, and a second house before December.
