MORGANTOWN -

The Monongalia County Board of Education and Pierpont Community and Technology College have partnered together in the name of education.

A ribbon cutting and open house was held on Sunday to present the new learning building on MTEC's campus.

Several people who worked on the project attended the event. Including, Dr. Frank DeVono, Superintendent of Monongalia County Schools and representatives from Senator Joe Manchin's office.

The event was held in conjunction with the third annual 'Bringing Back the Oldies' Car Show. There was door prizes, raffles, and food.

"We're sharing the building. So, MTEC has classes during the day and then we have classes in the evening," said Doreen Larson, president of Pierpont Community and Technology College. "And we're just going to hope to have even more streaming line curriculum between the technical center and Pierpont. So, we're excited and just so thrilled that it came out the way it was supposed to be."

The Pierpont Center at MTEC has several classrooms, and will house the Adult Basic Education Program, the Pre-Dental Hygiene Program and Early Childhood Program. The Adult Basic Education Program and Pre-Dental are moving from Pierpont's campus to the new location.
