West Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Rt. 57 near the Barbour and Harrison county line around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
State police said a Chevrolet Impala driven by Candace Mason, 34, of Philippi was traveling eastbound on Route 57 when she hydroplaned, fishtailed and lost control of her vehicle. Her car hit an oncoming Nissan truck, driven by John Cozad, 32, of Philippi, who was traveling westbound.
State police said the Mason was cited for failure to maintain control of her vehicle.
Both Mason and Cozad were transported to area hospitals. They were both in stable condition, said Tfc. J.M. Bush.
Nutter Fort, Stonewood, and Philippi fire departments responded to the scene, along with Anmoore EMS.
