CHARLESTON -

Richard L. Slater has been elected chairman of the West Virginia Roundtable, an independent, nonprofit and non-partisan business organization dedicated to creating a viable business climate throughout the state.

Slater is managing partner of Dixon Hughes Goodman and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He has been a member of the Roundtable since 2007, serving with educational, business and community leaders from throughout the state.

"Our group of CEOs and private-sector entrepreneurs truly understand what it takes to build equity in our state while creating good-paying jobs," Slater said in a news release. "As we move forward, I am excited about the opportunities before us to continue to improve the economic vitality of our state and our citizens."

Slater succeeds Marshall University President, Stephen Kopp, as chairman, and Slater will be joined by Tom Heywood, managing partner of Bowles Rice LLP as Roundtable vice chairman.

The West Virginia Roundtable was developed in 1984.
