Recent Rainfall Causes Damage at Mannington Middle School

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday's rains got into three classrooms in Mannington Middle School.

Marion County Superintendent Gary Price said a drain clogged and overflowed, causing water to spill into a third floor classroom.

The water eventually made its way to a science classroom on the second floor and a computer lab on the first floor.

Price said the school has extra classrooms and it's nothing for parents to worry about. He said the school is in the process of cleaning up the debris and drying out the rooms. After that, it will repair the damage with plaster.

"The water damage was limited to just that one area so we were able to have school. There is no real damage to the roof or the windows or anything structural like that. We will have to take down a good bit of plaster," Price said.

Price said the staff at Mannington Middle School covered the computers and they weren't damaged.
