MORGANTOWN -

WVU Career Services Center hosted the Career Kick-Off Tailgate Party on Friday August, 30 to get students ready for the first game of the 2013 Mountaineer football season.

Students were invited to prepare for their future and the first game at the tailgate.

The event happened at the Mountainlair Plaza. Students enjoyed traditional tailgate food, games, music and prizes. Recruiters from Target, The US Army, US Navy, Sherwin Williams, Snowshoe Mountain Resort, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and more were available for students to connect with about jobs and possible careers.

Career Services said that hundreds of companies recruit on campus before the end of September. Job searching while still in school is the best way to go about connecting with employers, so students should search as soon as possible after returning to school..

The goal of the Tailgate was not only to allow the students to enjoy free food, refreshments and games but engage them right away so they have time to prepare.

Four flat-screen TVs and 1,000 T-shirts were also given away at the event, for extra encouragement to attend.

The WVU Career Services Center plans to sponsor the tailgate party annually on the Friday before the first home football game.
