West Virginia State Police canceled the Silver Alert for Shawna Ann Way, 14, Tuesday. State police said Way turned herself into law enforcement Tuesday afternoon.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia State Police, the West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the West Virginia State Police Crimes Against Children Unit, the Taylor County Sheriff's Department , the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, the Grafton City Police Department, and numerous other surrounding state, county, and local law enforcement agencies actively worked together in the effort to locate Way.
More details concerning her disappearance will be provided as they become available, according to state police.
West Virginia State Police issued a Silver Alert Monday through the Taylor County Sheriff's Department for Shawna Ann Way, 14.
State police said Way is mentally impaired. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has brown eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow tie-dyed shirt, pinkish/white shorts and sandals with pink straps. Troopers said Way was last seen at the Briarview Apartments on September 1. Her direction of travel is unknown.
