CHARLESTON, WV -

A local veteran was honored for his service.

A ceremony was held on the USS LST-325 war ship as it was docked in Charleston Tuesday.  A foundation called Quilts of Valor honors veterans by giving them handmade quilts.

Tuesday, they honored Mark Wiant for his time fighting in the Vietnam War.  He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968

"I appreciate everyone that had a hand in making this quilt, and I appreciate the honor, I really feel it in my heart," said Mark Wiant.

The foundation has awarded more than 80,000 quilts to veterans.
