BRIDGEPORT -

Fairmont State will hit the field Thursday night for its first college football game of the season.

It will also be the first football game played in the brand new Mountain East Conference.

The Mountain East held a conference call with Falcons Head Coach Jason Woodman on Wednesday afternoon, along with Shepherd Head Coach Monte Cater.

Woodman is preparing for a gritty Seton Hill squad. He talked about who the Falcons will start at Quarterback and what it means to him to coach in the Friendly City.

"We're going to end up going with true freshman Cooper Hibbs," Woodman said. "He's a kid from Arundel High in Maryland. He comes from a good program. He's been coached very well throughout his high school career. We know he has a huge upside."

"Being from the area, I think I care a little bit more than anybody from another part of the state or another part of the country. This is home. This matters a little bit to me. It's been great. The community has bought in, just like the players have. We're excited to get out there," he added.
