Philip Barbour High School Tests New Fingerprinting School Lunch System

Posted: Updated:

Students in Barbour County soon will barely have to lift a finger for lunch.

Philip Barbour High School will test a system allowing students to pay for lunch with their fingerprint.

The system takes a partial print from students to track their use of school meals.

The school said the system will help cut down on some issues with the old system.

"We'll have two lines going with the Identimetrics, so that's going to be a big plus, so hopefully we'll have more kids eating because we can get them in and get them out a lot quicker," said Tammy Martin of Phillip Barbour High School.

Martin said students at the school will have their prints scanned later this month. The new system will be put to use shortly after that.
